A Carolina Beach burger spot that was recently named one of the Top 100 restaurants in North Carolina by Yelp is planning a move. Island Burgers & Bites has gained a following with locals and tourists in its location in a convenience store/gas station at 111 Carl Winner Drive.
But by spring 2025, fans may have more room to sit down and enjoy the burgers, cheesesteaks and hotdogs – and be able to order them with a local beer.
The restaurant has confirmed that they are planning to move next door, in the former Hardee’s location at 254 S. Lake Park Blvd.
“There will be a full renovation, with indoor and outdoor seating,” said Michael Clark, general manager for Island Burgers & Bites. “We will also have our on-premises permit.”
They expect to serve wine and beer (with a focus on local), along with the popular menu. Right now, the restaurant offers quick service in the convenience store. There’s some seating on an outdoor deck. Clark said the eatery’s devoted following is one of reasons for the move.
