Vehicle Search Leads to Drug Charges for Orchard Park Man

An Orchard Park man is facing drug charges after Jamestown Police Officers searched his vehicle. On Friday around 9:30pm, officers conducted a traffic stop on W 7th St. near Washington St. During their investigation, officers observed a quantity of suspected loose cocaine in the motor vehicle. The operator of the vehicle, 30-year-old Mark Shanks, was taken into custody. During the search of the vehicle, officers allegedly located an additional quantity of suspected cocaine along with 500 grams of concentrated cannabis. Shanks was transported to the Jamestown City Jail where a thorough search was completed. As a result, officers located an additional quantity of cocaine concealed on his person. Shanks was charged with 3rd degree criminal possession of cannabis, 7th degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and tampering with physical evidence. Shanks has since been released with an appearance ticket.
