KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The personnel file of a former Heritage High School science teacher is revealing what led up to him resigning earlier this year.
Last month, the Blount County Sheriff’s Office shared with 6 News that it was investigating Shane Rewis, a former teacher and coach at Heritage High . While the sheriff’s office did not share the nature of the investigation, Blount County Schools confirmed that Rewis was no longer employed by the school system.

6 News obtained a copy of Rewis’ personnel file, which explains that he began working at Heritage High School in 2004. Before that, he received a bachelors degree in biology from Georgia Southern in 1995 and taught at several schools between 1995 and 2004.
An email from Blount County Schools Director of Schools David Murrell to Rewis dated June 6 states that Rewis was suspended without pay effective that day, pending the outcome of an investigation into “allegations of unprofessional conduct.”
