Former Vols assistant Alex Golesh explains what happened during wild post-game altercation with opposing head coach

Former Tennessee Vols offensive coordinator Alex Golesh went viral on Friday night for a wild post-game altercation with FAU head coach Tom Herman.

Golesh, who is in his second season as the head coach at USF, offered Herman a bit of a drive by handshake after USF’s 44-21 win against FAU on Friday night.

Herman apparently wasn’t satisfied with the quick handshake so he chased Golesh down for an explanation.

Here’s the handshake.

After the game, Golesh was asked about the incident. The former Vols assistant coach referenced USF’s 56-14 blowout loss to FAU last season while explaining what happened with Herman.

“Not a whole lot of back and forth,” said Golesh. “Nothing really, I said a year ago, we would be back to get it and we came back to get it. Whatever’s said is said, I’m good. I think it was said that we recruit against each other, I think it’s said we don’t like each other. I got a lot of respect for the staff. I think they do a really good job. I don’t specifically think we recruit against each other, at least I can’t think of a guy that we had to go beat them on.”
