Letters: The link between crime, education and Amendment 2

Who seriously believes Amendment 2 is designed to improve education for Kentucky’s children as a whole? It is designed to help a select few, some of whom are already in non-public schools.During my social work career helping families that were hindered by lack of public education resources, I eventually saw a correlation to high crime rates. Although crime is committed by people of all backgrounds, poor education causes major insecurity in children and makes crime more attractive to some. Most folks want to reduce crime but don’t want to address shortages that fuel it. Politicians are quick to denounce crime. It makes sense, unless they don’t fund the related resources.Improved education is a great plan when it includes all children, not the chosen few to the deficit of others. Consider the long view.
