PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Many are starting to wonder when exactly will the presidential election be called? The answer to that is very complex.
“We will not know on Tuesday night who won the election,” said WAVY 10 political analyst Joel Rubin.
But could we know a projected winner?
“We will know who is leading election night,” said Norfolk State University political analyst Dr. Eric Claville, “and I believe that whoever is leading will, more than likely … be the next president of the United States.”
Even then, it might be too close to call.
“It’s going to be something that, quite literally, we will know more on election night,” said Old Dominion University political analyst Dr. Benjamin Melusky.
These three political analysts say our divided times are producing tighter and more tense elections. This year, we’ve seen higher numbers of early and absentee voting, and each state’s counting process is different.
Then factor in key battleground states and electoral votes, and it’ll be hard to pinpoint when exactly the election is called.
