Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear traveled north of his stomping grounds on Saturday, just days before the 2024 General Election, to a rally in southern Indiana to offer his support to the Democratic nominee in the Indiana gubernatorial race .
Beshear’s choice to take the stump in support of Democratic candidate Jennifer McCormick in a state that hasn’t had a Democratic governor since 2005 was an unorthodox one, especially in the crucial final days of the party’s presidential campaign.
But the cadre of Democratic candidates in attendance at the Jeffersonville rally — including McCormick, Democratic nominee for Indiana Lt. Gov. Terry Goodin, U.S. Rep. candidate Tim Peck, among others — couched Beshear’s story as an example of how a Democratic candidate can beat the odds in a consistently Republican state.
The rally was one of McCormick’s final chances to win over voters in a three-way race against Republican nominee Mike Braun and Libertarian Donald Rainwater that has intensified in the final stretch.
