EAU CLAIRE (WKBT) — Minnesota First Lady Gwen Walz visited Eau Claire Saturday to encourage Wisconsinites to vote.
Walz visited a local campaign field office to rally and thank campaign supporters and volunteers just days before the election.
State Representative Jodi Emerson and Christian Phelps, a candidate for State Assembly, also spoke at the event.
During her speech, Walz said a Harris administration will fight for women’s reproductive rights.
The issue is personal for Walz, who has been open about her fertility journey. The former teacher underwent IUI treatments in order to conceive her children.
She also focused on the economy while in Eau Claire, saying that Harris and Walz will work to lower the cost of living.
“They will build an opportunity economy. One where everyone has a shot to succeed. This means giving you a tax cut, lowering the cost of groceries and health care and making it more affordable to buy a home,” Walz said.
This is Walz’s eighth visit to Wisconsin since Governor Walz joined the Democratic ticket.
