Alabama State Troopers are investigating two fatal traffic crashes in the Montgomery area.
A two-vehicle crash that happened about 6:15 p.m. Friday claimed the life of Montgomery man, said Senior Trooper Joshua Thompson, a spokesman for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. Michael G. Hoskins, 81, was fatally injured when the 2008 Ford Fusion he was driving collided head-on with the 2017 Ford F-350 driven by Frank A. Cheney, 77, of McDavid, Florida, Thompson said.
Hoskins was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash happened on Alabama 21 near the 113 mile marker, about six miles south of Hayneville, in Lowndes County.
A separate single-vehicle crash that happened about 6:16 p.m. Friday claimed the life of a Wetumpka man, said Thompson. Mark E. Patterson, 45, was fatally injured when the 2014 Ford F150 he was driving left the roadway, continued traveling on private property and overturned in a ravine, he said. Patterson was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
