A pedestrian was killed Friday night while crossing a roadway in Arden Arcade, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department confirmed.
A paratransit bus struck the person at about 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Butano Drive and Watt Avenue near the Country Club Plaza shopping center, said Metro Fire spokesperson Battalion Chief Parker Wilbourn.
The pedestrian has yet to be publicly identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. The California Highway Patrol, the law enforcement agency investigating the crash, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The fatal crash happened in wet conditions. Sacramento’s first storm of the water year brought between a quarter-inch and half-inch of rain to parts of the region Friday evening, and the National Weather Service warned drivers of difficult weather conditions.
