The alert stated that drivers should “expect significant delays” and “seek alternate route.” A second alert was sent at 4:24pm with the following update: “Southbound Georgia Ave (MD 97) at Emory Ln has reopened. Northbound lanes remain closed due to traffic incident. Expect delays. Seek alternate route.” A 5:03pm update states that all lanes are now open.
