More than 20% of voters in Delaware have already cast their ballot

Voters continue to show up in high numbers across Delaware, with early voting ending this weekend.

Over 175,000 people in Delaware have taken advantage of the early voting period as of 9 a.m. Saturday, and Sussex County has led the way, according to the Delaware Department of Elections.

Over 1,400 people have already voted in New Castle County since polls opened Saturday.

More than 81,000 ballots have been cast early in Sussex; that’s nearly 40% of registered voters. In New Castle County, almost 64,000 people (14.6%) have voted early, and in Kent County, more than 30,000 people (21.2%) have voted early as of 9 a.m. Saturday.

Early voting has been available in Delaware since 2022, and the number of voters in this election has far surpassed the total number of voters two years ago.

Over 22% of the 790,955 people registered have voted early this year.

New Castle County early voting sites are busy

In New Castle County, two sites had over 300 people vote at each Saturday morning.

Appoquinimink State Service Center in Middletown and Hudson State Service Center in Newark have been the busiest two early voting sites in the state.
