Veterans Day, a federal holiday observed in the United States annually on Nov. 11, honors military veterans of the United States Armed Forces.
Here’s what to know about the Southeast North Carolina Veterans Parade.
When is the parade?
The Southeast North Carolina Veterans Parade will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. in downtown Wilmington, in conjunction with the New Hanover County Veterans Council. More than a thousand veterans will be marching or in attendance. A preshow will be held beginning at 10 a.m. on Third Street.
Pre-show events
- A Veteran Day Brass Quintet (members of the Wilmington Virtuosi Brass, the Port City’s new British brass band). Members ― Stephen Luck, USA Retired, trumpet. David Rainville, USAF Veteran, trumpet; Cheryl Stamp, USAF Retired, horn; Rob McSherry, USMC Retired, trombone; and Brian McBride, DMA, tuba.
- Beaches & Boots Line Dancing
- Molly Leese, CEO, executive coach and engaging speaker at Golden Age Leadership and works at director fo Employee Leadership, Learning and Engagement at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
- Ethan Powell will recite the “Pledge of Allegiance.”
- UNCW Seabelles, an all-female Acapella group, will sing the “National Anthem.”
