Windy Sunday afternoon; Watching the tropics

COLUMBUS, Ga (WRBL)- While we have a clear start today, clouds will move back in over the next few hours. By this afternoon, expect mostly clouds conditions and winds picking up. Winds will gust up to 30 mph at times.

Winds will remain strong through Election day following this front. Monday’s forecast trends closer to average with highs in the mid 70s. Beginning Election Day, we could see a few pop up showers that afternoon.

Rain chances will continue to ramp up midweek as we watch the tropics. Expect scattered showers and storms Wednesday. Showers will remain possible through next weekend.

Tropics: There is a high chance (80%) that the system in the Caribbean will organize over the next 48 hours. There is still a lot of uncertainty whether this will impact our forecast, however, this will move into the gulf next week. We will keep you updated with the latest on the tropics here the First Alert Weather Team.
