Boston Celtics point guard Payton Pritchard has been on fire for the first seven games of the season, and he’s doing it off the bench. If he continues as is, he can write-in his name for Sixth Man of the Year.
Through the first seven games, Pritchard is averaging 15.7 points while shooting 44% from three, three rebounds, two and a half assists, and a little over one steal per game.
Pritchard also tied a Celtics franchise record this season, with eight threes off the bench in a win against the Milwaukee Bucks .
What Pritchard is doing is borderline insane for a bench player. With his production, Pritchard could be a starter on most teams. However, the Celtics have the most stacked starting five in the NBA, and now they have the best bench in the NBA as well.
Hopefully, Pritchard does continue this level of production, and brings home the second Sixth Man of the Year in four seasons to Boston after Malcolm Brogdon in 2022.
Pritchard and the Celtics will face the Golden State Warriors tomorrow at 7:30pm EST.
