Storms tonight with showers continuing tomorrow; Sunny and seasonal for Election Day

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – Temperatures warmed back into the 60’s today as a warm front moved through last night. Unfortunately these warm temperatures won’t last long as a cold front will move through tonight bringing with it a chance for some thunderstorms. Scattered storms are expected to develop between 7 and 9 pm and move to the northeast into the overnight hours. The storm prediction center has outlined an area in south central Nebraska from the Tri-Cites south into northern Kansas with a marginal (1 out of 5) risk for severe weather. So it is not out of the question to see a storm on the stronger side this evening, but not very likely. The main risk with these storms are strong wind gusts and hail up to 1.00 inch. after the storms move out of the area cloud cover is expected to continue into the day tomorrow as a more widespread are of showers and light rain move in. The best chances for rain tomorrow is from the Tri-Cities and east, with heavier rainfall amounts expected out East. Between tonight and Tuesday morning rainfall amounts between a half inch and an inch are expected in the Tri-Cities with up to and inch and a half expected out east from Hebron through Lincoln to Omaha. Temperatures tomorrow expected in the upper 40’s to low 50’s before falling during the afternoon and evening into the low to mid 40’s.
