Cold Weather Returns: Rain and Snow Showers Expected Across Northern Arizona

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a forecast indicating that cold temperatures, along with rain and high-elevation snow showers, are expected today into tonight. Light snowfall is anticipated mainly at elevations above 6,000 to 7,000 feet, with the White Mountains likely to see the most significant accumulation.

As a trough of cold air moves into the area from southwestern Utah, rain and snow showers will develop throughout the day, particularly in the late afternoon and evening. While snow levels are currently rising above 7,000 feet due to sub-tropical air, the coldest air will arrive later, potentially leading to heavier bursts of precipitation.

Areas above 6,500 to 7,500 feet may experience minor snow accumulations today, with more impactful snowfall expected along the Mogollon Rim and White Mountains, especially southeast of Flagstaff. As the low pressure system shifts east overnight, conditions may improve with warmer and drier weather returning at the start of the week before another storm system moves in midweek.
