Fire Crews Dispatched for Open Space Rescue in Remote Hiking Area

Fire crews were working an open space rescue in a remote hiking area of San Diego today.

Units were dispatched at 1:25 p.m. Sunday to 15200 Black Mountain Road near Carmel Valley Road at Black Mountain Open Space Park, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

A total of 31 personnel were assigned to the rescue, including one rescue unit, one medic and two engines, officials said.

No injuries or evacuations were immediately reported. The city of Poway assisted in the effort.

The circumstances surrounding the rescue were unknown.
