Morrissey Abruptly Ends Concert Mid-Performance After Fans Storm the Stage in Dallas

Former Smiths frontman Morrissey cut his show short in Dallas, Texas recently after some overzealous fans rushed the stage during the performance. On Saturday, November 2, Morrissey got through his initial set unscathed. During the encore, however, some fans got excited and climbed up on the stage with him.

While he was performing “First of the Gang to Die,” from the 2004 album You Are the Quarry, a fan climbed up on stage and held his hand. In the fan-captured video, it looks like security helped her up to embrace Morrissey. Another woman then climbed up to hold Morrissey’s hand, and then another. When more people began rushing the stage, Morrissey’s security team spirited him away backstage. He did not return to finish the encore.

There are no reports that the incident was violent, or if it was simply an outpouring of love for Morrissey from loyal fans that got a bit out of control. Currently, Morrissey is on his North American tour. The tour concludes on November 23 in Waukegan, Illinois.
