Detroit Father Charged with Unsafe Firearm Storage After Toddler Son’s Accidental Shooting

A Detroit father is facing charges after his toddler son allegedly shot himself with an unsecured firearm. Richard Williams, 29, has been charged with unsafe storage of a firearm causing injury, a felony offense. The incident took place in the early hours of Oct. 30 at a residence on the 4000 block of Grand Street, where the three-year-old found the handgun and fired it, causing a self-inflicted stomach wound.
