Tragic Fatal Accident Closes Marigold Ave in Poinciana: FHP Investigating
Poinciana, FL. – A tragic accident involving a motorcycle and an SUV has claimed the life of a 16-year-old boy and seriously injured an 18-year-old passenger on Marigold Avenue near Peabody Road in Poinciana. Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) responded to the scene on the evening of November 3, 2024, at approximately 7:45 PM.
Incident Details: The 16-year-old rider of a 2004 Honda dirt bike was traveling northbound in the southbound lane of Marigold Avenue when he attempted to swerve to avoid a collision with a southbound 2010 Chevrolet Traverse. Tragically, the motorcycle struck a metal pole, causing both the rider and his passenger to be thrown from the bike. The motorcycle landed sideways in the path of the SUV.
The rider was transported to Poinciana Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. The 18-year-old passenger was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the SUV, a 57-year-old man from Kissimmee, and his two passengers, ages 44 and 16, were unharmed.
