A longtime dispatcher with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office was recently presented an award during the annual New York State 911 Coordinators Conference at the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel in Celoron. Marvin Cummings received the Garth Hillier Award, which is given to the New York State 911 Coordinator of the Year. The award is given to a 911 coordinator who shows dedication to the principles of the industry and to the people within the 911 community, and is also for those who show leadership and ability to help co-workers or others within the public safety family. Cummings has been employed as an emergency and police dispatcher for the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office since 1993 and has held a supervisory role as as senior dispatcher for more than 20 years.
