Huskers volleyball team finishes weekend with sweep of Northwestern

The Nebraska Cornhuskers continue to put the rest of the volleyball world on notice as they cruised to another win on Sunday, finishing the weekend with a sweep of Northwestern (25-18, 25-15, 25-15) in Evanston, Ill.

It came two days after the Huskers made a statement with a road sweep of No. 7 Wisconsin .

Following Sunday’s match, Nebraska has now won 19 matches in a row and 16 of its 22 contests in straight sets.

Nebraska started fast against the Wildcats, winning six of the first seven points and building an early lead. Northwestern fought back, winning five of six later in the frame to pull within 15-12, but the Huskers didn’t let the Wildcats get any closer. The Big Red responded with another 6-1 run and cruised to the finish.

The second stanza was much closer early on but Nebraska again started to pull away around the middle of the frame. Up 15-12 after a Wildcats point, the Huskers won four straight and finished the set on a 10-3 run. Nebraska had three aces in the set.
