NYC car chase ends in tragedy when erratic driver trying to ditch cops crashes into innocent bicyclist: cops

A speeding driver fatally struck a bicyclist while fleeing from cops who tried to stop him for blowing a red light in Harlem over the weekend, cops and sources said.

An unidentified man was behind the wheel of a Toyota minivan when he whizzed through a red light at West 152nd Street and Broadway late Saturday, according to authorities and police sources.

NYPD officers tried to pull him over – but he took off, barreling into the cyclist a few blocks away on West 155th Street near St. Nicholas Avenue around 10:40 p.m., cops said.

The cyclist, whose identity had not been released by Monday, was rushed to Harlem Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.
