Voters in Minnesota’s 3rd Congressional District will pick a representative for an open U.S. House seat in Tuesday’s election.
State of play: Former DFL state Sen. Kelly Morrison and Republican Tad Jude, a judge and former state representative and state senator, are going head-to-head for the west metro seat.
Catch up quick : The suburban district is currently represented by outgoing Democratic U.S. Rep. Dean Phillips .
- Phillips announced his retirement during his unsuccessful presidential run.
Flashback: In 2018 Phillips flipped the one-time swing district from GOP control for the first time in decades.
- He went on to win the increasingly blue part of the metro by wide margins in 2020 and 2022.
