Lebanon Pike speed limit reductions to take effect next week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — You will need to drive at a slower pace if you’re on Lebanon Pike. That’s because new speed limit signs are going up after lots of debate about how to deal with speeders.

Speed along the stretch of road, specifically in the Donelson area, has created accidents near businesses and organization located close to the roadway.

“It is not an unusual occurrence unfortunately for us to see wrecks right out here,” Darren Wright, Connection United Methodist Church Pastor, told News 2. The church sits near the intersection of Lebanon and Stewarts Ferry pikes

He says the congregation has seen its fair share of accidents when getting to and from the church.

“Especially for us, when we think about folks that might be riding the bus coming here for Nashville launch pad or other community groups, they have to walk down this stretch or maybe even cross the road,” he told News 2.

But the number of accidents blamed on speed could soon drop after the Metro Nashville Council voted in October to drop the speed limits along Hermitage Avenue and Lebanon Pike from Korean Veterans Boulevard—downtown—all the way to the Wilson County line.
