Dozens are killed by gun violence in Rochester each year. Help us tell their stories.

Dozens of people in Rochester are killed by gun violence each year. They are our neighbors, community members, family and friends ― and their absence is felt in every corner of this city.

But after funerals and balloon releases held to say goodbye, loved ones of homicide victims are often left to carry forward their memory alone . The Democrat and Chronicle wants to help change that. We are planning a series of stories to honor all of the lives lost this year to gun violence ― and we need your help.

In 2024, the list of gun violence victims includes:

  • Wahid Nazario, 49
  • Frank Rosario-Vazquez, 43
  • Davarcea Fort, 27
  • Julius June, 31
  • David Treese III, 45
  • Jose Carabello, 54
  • Marquis Chambers, 31
  • Jared Perry, 30
