Anthony Carroll, 50, of Tampa, was sentenced to 12 years and seven months in federal prison for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute over five kilograms of cocaine, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida announced today.
U.S. District Judge Mary S. Scriven also ordered Carroll to forfeit $10,340, a facilitating property of the offenses. Carroll was found guilty by a federal jury on April 9, 2024, the department noted.
According to the department, Carroll and his co-defendant, Pablo Villalobos, 62, of Sinaloa, Mexico, coordinated with a Mexican national affiliated with the Sinaloa Cartel to acquire 30 kilograms of cocaine in Tampa.
The department noted that an undercover agent, communicating with the cartel associate, was approached to transport the cocaine from El Paso, Texas, to Tampa.
The agent later met with an unnamed contact in El Paso, received the cocaine, and observed the courier leaving the United States and crossing into Chihuahua, Mexico, according to the department.
