Burn bans were issued in Erie County, Harborcreek Township and Platea Borough following the number of brush fires throughout the weekend.
Fairfield Hose Company Fire Chief Jim Hawryliw said this comes after copious amounts of brush fires over the last two to three days.

“There are several fires. There are a lot of bigger fires on the west county area which they’re currently going on right now. We had several pretty large fires along the railroad tracks,” said Hawryliw.
Hawryliw said this is due to the dry heat and wind advisories and that November has been dryer than usual with the lack of rain.
“Personally I’ve never seen it this dry around here in a very long time and it’s so dangerous you can even light some of this stuff off with a matchbook it’s that dry right now,” said Hawryliw.
JET 24/FOX 66 meteorologist Craig Flint said Erie is being considered “abnormally dry” as the area is almost five inches below rainfall for what is considered normal for the fall season.
