SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Monday was the final day for early voting for Siouxland residents before tomorrow’s general election.
Early voting in Iowa began back on Oct. 16. Woodbury County auditor Pat Gill said that on average, there were about 1,000 people a day casting a ballot. Gill added that he was impressed with the turnout residents had with the early voting – that period was cut from 40, to 29, then to just 20 days.

“We are going to have over 20,000 early voters in Woodbury County this year, which is a surprise because it was cut to 20 days,” Gill said. “I figured we’d have 12,000 to 15,000 voters maybe, but it’ll be over 20,000. It’s been a steady stream of people and it has been a well-oiled machine. The precinct election officials are doing a great job.”
The polls will be open in Iowa until 8 p.m. Tuesday. If you end up in line when the polls close, you’ll still be able to cast a ballot.
