DES MOINES, Iowa – In a newly released 2023 report, the Des Moines Police Department says service calls are up. There were nearly 500,000 calls in total. DMPD also broke down the calls by priority level-72.8% of calls were considered high priority. This includes fights, crimes in progress, hold-up alarms, accidents with unknown injuries and fire support.
