SHREVEPORT, La. ( KTAL/KMSS ) – Louisiana Secretary of State Nancy Landry shared why she anticipates a good voter turnout based on newly registered voters and other key data.
“We anticipate having between 1 and 1.2 million voters turnout tomorrow,” said Secretary Landry. “We’ve already had record numbers of people who have early voted. We’ve had a total of 970,000 people early vote. We anticipate the overall turnout will be between 68% and 71%, which is great for Louisiana.”
She explained that there are high registration numbers and consistently high voter turnout during presidential elections.
“Of course, the parishes where we have local elections always see higher turnout because the interest in those local elections also pushes people to the polls as well,” she continued.
Her message to Louisianans is to go vote if they haven’t yet. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. through 8 p.m., and her office anticipates having results around midnight.
If you experience any issues at your polling location and would like to report them, she recommends immediately contacting the commissioner before casting your ballot.
