Election Day 2024 is finally here and, based on early voting numbers , residents in Alachua County appear to be highly motivated to head to the polls this year and have their voices heard on everything from the next president of the United States to who will sit on the local county commission.
Locally, voters in Alachua County will decide County Commission seats for Districts 1 and 3, the three-way race for Alachua County sheriff and the Supervisor of Elections. Also on voters’ ballots are the races for State Attorney for the Eighth Judicial Circuit, Florida Senate District 9, Florida House District 22 and U.S. House District 3.
Local referendums on the ballot include the renewal of the the one-mill for schools tax, at-large voting districts for Alachua County and, for city of Gainesville voters, a decision on the future control of Gainesville Regional Utilities.
