An outpouring of sadness has greeted last week’s announcement that one of Bakersfield’s favorite women’s clothing boutiques is closing after 42 years in business. More than 500 people reacted with a combination of heart emojis and written expressions of support to owner Heidi Shubin’s Facebook post Thursday that her family-owned shop along Stockdale Highway will close later this month.
