Now his family is suing the company, as well as two other companies, for negligence. The family alleges that these other companies were involved in the refinery’s dangerous operations, so they should be held partly responsible for Jose Perez’s death.
The family’s lawyer argues that the companies failed to take necessary precautions that could have prevented his death, and failed to maintain their safety systems.
PEMEX has not responded to a request for comment.
