Vince Williams Jr. started the season injured and not available. The Memphis Grizzlies have missed his high-level defensive versatility and intangibles as a reliable role player.
The versatile wing, among the few bright spots for the Grizzlies in the 2023-24 season, has returned this week to on-court activities after an extensive rehab period due to a lower leg injury.
Williams Jr. is set to return to game action within the next month.
A difference-maker
The young wing proved last season that he could be a difference-maker. He was relatively efficient on offense, scoring 10 points per game on 44.6% from the field and 37.8% from beyond the arc.
Vince’s best quality is his defense because he will not back down from any matchup. Standing at only 6’4″, most of the NBA community sees him as a small player, but that is not the case. He has a 7’0″ wingspan, which helps him play against taller opponents. It is a big deal for the Grizzlies because he can fill in as a small forward or a small-ball power forward.
