A man riding a bicycle was hit and killed by a vehicle Saturday night within the city limits of Belleview.

What happened? Officers said it appears the rider, identified as Javaris DeMarcus Blunt, was riding a bicycle and attempting to cross the street when he was hit by a newer model Cadillac CT4 driven by a 91-year-old woman from Summerfield.
Blunt was taken to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, where he later died. He was 28, and from Ocala.
Belleview officers said they were assigned the call shortly after 9:30 p.m. Authorities said when they arrived medical personnel were working on Blunt, who was unconscious.
The area where the crash took place is dark and Blunt was wearing all black clothing. The bicycle had no lighting. Marion County Sheriff’s deputies told Belleview officers the cyclist was spotted approximately five minutes prior to the crash and the bicyclist had no lighting.
