Millcreek Township Fire Department has begun strategic planning to define the department’s mission and priorities and improve outcomes for patients and properties in the township.
About 50 business, school district and nonprofit leaders, township officials, and township residents who have been served by the fire department shared their expectations for and concerns about the fire department during a luncheon at the Shrine Club on Monday.
Residents also identified department strengths and prioritized department services.
“Given that Millcreek Township Fire Department is a new fire department, this is really going to be instrumental in laying the foundation over the next five years of what our strategic initiatives are going to be,” department Chief Michael Cliff said. “And that’s going to be directly related to what the community wants from the fire department.”
Department volunteers and staff will provide their perspectives later this week.
The strategic planning process is being facilitated by the Center for Public Safety Excellence, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving fire and emergency services. Township supervisors unanimously approved contracting with the Virginia-based organization at a cost of about $19,500 in September.
