LEE COUNTY, Ala. (WRBL) – A 72-year-old Smiths Station man has been sentenced to 12 months and 45 days in the Lee County Jail after pleading guilty to reckless endangerment and harassment following a March incident where he allegedly fired a .22 caliber rifle and a 12-gauge shotgun toward two children who were fishing at a public lake.
Bradley Mangram was initially charged with reckless endangerment after the March 20 incident, in which authorities say he recklessly fired in the direction of the children, creating a substantial risk of serious physical injury. During the same altercation, Mangram reportedly grabbed an individual by the shirt, resulting in an additional harassment charge.
On October 24, Mangram pleaded guilty to both charges. As part of his sentence, he was given 12 months and 45 days in jail, of which he will serve the first 45 days immediately, with a review hearing set for February 2025. He will also been placed on two years of probation and is under a no-contact order with the victims.
