Election Day has arrived.
There are a lot of items on the ballot for Story and Boone County residents. A handful of races are underway for local offices , while voters will decide the fate of a $25 million bond for Story County and a $10 million rec center bond in Boone .
In Iowa, the race for president appears tight. The final Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll shows Vice President Kamala Harris with a narrow, three-point lead over former president Donald Trump in Iowa. Trump beat President Joe Biden by eight percentage points in the state in 2020.
As of Monday morning, just over 17,000 people had voted early in Story County and nearly 4,500 had done so in Boone County, according to the local auditor’s offices.
The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Iowa.

How to vote
Aspiring voters must be 18 years old on or before election day to cast their vote. To vote in person, voters must go to their assigned polling location and bring their ID with them.
