Chill in the Air: Cooler, Breezy Weather Ahead for the Arizona Desert Southwest

An active weather pattern is set to bring cooler-than-normal temperatures to the Desert Southwest this week, according to the National Weather Service in Phoenix. Generally dry conditions will prevail, but a potent system moving across the Intermountain West midweek could introduce breezy to windy conditions, particularly in the Colorado River Valley, along with isolated showers in Arizona’s high terrain.

After a weekend that saw some showers and thunderstorms in south-central Arizona, a drier atmosphere has settled in, effectively ending rain chances for the coming days. Highs in the lower deserts are expected to hover in the lower to middle 70s, with a slight warmup anticipated on Tuesday. However, temperatures will remain below normal, with some areas in southeastern California possibly reaching the 80-degree mark.
