12:15 — Gypsy Hill Park gym, Ward 3, Staunton
STAUNTON — Andrea Smallwood brought her grandson to the polls just after noon on Tuesday. Smallwood votes at the Gypsy Hill Park gym in Ward 3.
“We have to vote,” Smallwood said.
She said it was her civic duty to vote and she does it every year.
“I want who I think is the better one to win,” she said.
Her grandson always accompanies her to poll. He helps her fill in the ballot and even enter it in the voting machine.
“Then he’ll know what to do (when he is able to vote),” Smallwood said. “And we talked about who we’re voting for.”
As the two walked away, Smallwood looked at her grandson and said, “Time to go home and rake some more leaves.”
As of noon there had been 647 votes cast in Ward 3.
