Beyoncé Pays Homage to Pamela Anderson

In her new music video for “Bodyguard,” Beyoncé channels some of Pamela Anderson’s most iconic looks from “Barb Wire,” “Baywatch,” and the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards.

The video features Beyoncé dancing while sporting a black dress with a plunging neckline, knee-high boots, and mesh gloves from Anderson’s “Barb Wire” character. She also dons Anderson’s iconic red “Baywatch” bathing suit, emblazoned with the words “Beywatch.”

The video concludes with Beyoncé wearing a giant pink fuzzy hat, white corset, and sparkly leggings inspired by Anderson’s MTV Video Music Awards outfit.

Hidden Messages in the Video

The video includes hidden messages. A quick shot of a gun firing displays the word “Vote.” The video also ends with “Happy Beylloween,” a reference to Halloween.

Beyoncé appears at the “No Visual Awards” instead of the VMAs, a nod to fans’ requests for full-album visuals.

Beyoncé on Music Videos

In a recent interview, Beyoncé explained her decision not to release music videos for her latest albums, “Cowboy Carter” and “Renaissance.” She believes the music stands on its own and that visuals can sometimes distract from its quality.

However, Beyoncé acknowledges that fans have embraced the music in other ways, becoming the “visual” through her concerts and her film, “Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé.”
