It’s an open secret nowadays that the Miami Heat’s fabled “Heatles” nearly played in a different city. Dwyane Wade and LeBron James have long said that Chicago was one of the teams that they considered joining before settling on Miami.
In a recent appearance on Mike Miller and Udonis Haslem’s ” The OGs Show ,” Wade detailed once again the circumstances behind the 2010 free agency period. The former Heat star said he was exploring his options, admitting that he was looking for a potential contender team.
Wade named Chicago as the primary team he was looking at back then. While Miami was still in the running, a phone call from LeBron sealed his return to the Heat.
In the end, James, Wade and Chris Bosh ended up joining the Heat, forming one of the greatest dynasties of all time. The Bulls still ended up as one of their fiercest rivals, but no Eastern Conference team could ultimately stop them from reaching the Finals.
The trio reached four consecutive Finals, winning two straight championships in 2012 and 2013. Wade remained with the team until 2016 when he decided to join his hometown Bulls six years after nearly signing with them.
