A man was arrested after showing up intoxicated and screaming at a Northern Kentucky polling location Tuesday afternoon, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
The 47-year-old man, from Hebron, caused a disturbance shortly after 1 p.m. at Thornwilde Elementary School, police said.
Poll workers told police the man initially refused to verify his identity with his home address, which is necessary to receive the ballot. After he finally did, he was “disruptive” and screamed out “let’s vote” in front of roughly 100 people at the polling location, police said.
The man scribbled outside the boxes on his ballot and crumbled it up. He tried to place the ballot into the ballot machine but was told by a poll worker the machine would not accept it.
He then walked outside with his ballot in hand and was chased down by an election official.
When deputies arrived, they noticed the man was “very intoxicated.” Police also found a bottle filled with vodka on the suspect.
