Pedestrian fatally struck by train in North County: SDSO

ENCINITAS, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A fatal collision involving a pedestrian and a train has been reported Tuesday morning in North County, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a North County Transit District spokesperson, a person trespassing in the railroad right-of-way in Leucadia was struck by a Coaster train heading northbound around 8:32 a.m.

Deputies arrived to the scene at Ashbury Street and North Vulcan Avenue in Encinitas around 8:45 a.m., SDSO said.

The sheriff’s office is not releasing further information regarding the incident. Train service was momentarily disrupted during the investigation, but has since resumed.
