Update: The AP has called Maryland’s U.S. Senate race, with Angela Alsobrooks the unofficial winner with 53% of the vote.

The eyes of the nation are on Maryland’s US Senate race as one of the essential ones that could determine which party takes control of the chamber in 2025.

The race pits Democrat Angela Alsobrooks, the Prince George’s County Executive, against Republican Larry Hogan, a former two-term governor of Maryland. They are vying to replace retiring Sen. Ben Cardin, who is not seeking reelection after serving three terms.

The presidential campaigns have loomed large over this race throughout, with Hogan pledging his independence from Republican nominee Donald Trump while Alsobrooks has embraced Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and ran largely on her support for abortion rights. Maryland also has an abortion amendment to the state’s constitution on the ballot this year.

Check back here throughout General Election night, Nov. 5, 2024, for the latest results and the eventual winner. The polls in Maryland close at 8 p.m.
