TREASURE ISLAND – Residents unable to get building permits following the recent hurricanes vented their frustrations at an Oct. 29 meeting of the City Commission. Some residents questioned why they couldn’t get permits even for minor repairs, while others questioned why they couldn’t get demolition permits. Some wondered why they couldn’t use contractors’ billing statements to prove repairs wouldn’t be more than 50% of their home values. Residents also asked why the city didn’t allow residents to hire their own property assessors to show repair costs.
