Chattanooga Police Department investigating fatal traffic collision caused by wrong-way driver on Interstate 75 North

Chattanooga, TN – According to the police officials, the fatal crash occurred right after 3 a.m. early Tuesday morning.

Chattanooga Police Department officers responded to a crash near mile marker 2.4 on I-75 North.

Upon arrival, officers found a 20-year-old man in a Ford Excursion suffering life-threatening injuries and a 32-year-old man in a Dodge Ram 2500 with serious injuries.

Chattanooga Fire and Hamilton County EMS also arrived at the scene, where the driver of the Ford Excursion was pronounced dead.

CPD’s Traffic Unit conducted a preliminary investigation, which revealed that the driver of the Ford Excursion had been traveling southbound in the northbound lanes, resulting in a head-on collision with the Dodge Ram 2500.

Following the initial impact, a semi-truck struck the Dodge Ram 2500. The Dodge Ram’s driver was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, while the semi-truck driver sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital.
