(Syracuse) — It came down to the wire, but Robert Hallstrom has secured Nebraska’s District 1 State Senate seat. Unofficial results from the Nebraska Secretary of State’s Office, with all 45 precincts reporting, show Hallstrom receiving 8,847 votes, or just over 51.8%–just a 626 vote margin over Dennis Schaardt, who received roughly 48.1% of the vote. A lifelong Syracuse resident, Hallstrom graduated from Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca High School. He then graduated from the University of Nebraska, receiving a bachelor of science and a law degree. A practicing lawyer for the past 40 years, Hallstrom raised four children with his wife, LuRae. Hallstrom tells KMA News he was grateful for the support on election night and along the campaign trail.
